Voltaren-XR, the extended-release form of Voltaren, is used only for long-term treatment. Cataflam is also prescribed for immediate relief of pain and menstrual discomfort.

Voltaren Emulgel is a gel for rubbing into the skin and contains the active ingredient, called Diclofenac Sodium 1%. Voltaren Emulgel is used to relieve pain and reduce swelling in a number of conditions affecting the joints and muscles.
